Lisa Sargese From Lap Band to Bypass

I've screwed up royally. Made bad decisions. Paid the price. And I'm not sorry. As a matter of fact, I'm SOOO not sorry, that I can't imagine doing things differently and still being the person I am today. My mother will sometimes try to make me admit that I did something "stupid" and I put the word in quotes because, yes, she uses the actual word stupid, but also because I refuse to cop to it. For instance, how stupid it was to spend all that money and go through everything I went through w… Continue

Eileen No water/No protein/No weightloss!

So I am 3 months post op and have lost just about 30 pounds. While very excited about the weightloss so far I have been a little discouraged lately. I started off with just very light excersize, mainly walking, things seemed to be going quite well and weight seemed to come off quite steadily. For about the last month though I have stepped up the workouts quite a bit, and noticed that I'm only dropping about a pound or so every week. -I did better than that just dieting prior to WLS!! So... I hav… Continue

Donna Bingham New Here - Hi to all fellow GBers!

I am nearly 8 weeks out and have lost almost 40 lbs. I still struggle with quite an appetite, and the ability to hold down more than I think I should if my pouch is really the size of an egg. I do screw up at times, but overall am blessed to have an easy going pouch that is so tolerant! I write daily weights, diet, struggles, triumphs, foibles and everything gastric bypass at a daily blog I recently started after having first keep all my thoughts and musings in a hand written notebook. Now my ho… Continue

Tiffany Davis Post-Op: Day 4

Wow! This isn't what I expected at all. My c-section for my twins seemed to be a breeze compared to this. I'm in constant pain, and sleeping on a 2 person love seat isn't cutting the comfy level. I seem to be okay with the liquid every 15 min., however, I find it hard to manage to work in the next level of the diet. From the two week pre-op diet, my tastes buds have gotten dull, so I'm working on baby food. Seems as if it takes forever to swallow some food in my system - and yet the smells of ot… Continue

Eileen post op update

This is my first post op update....Things have gone very well. I consider myself lucky as I haven't had much pain. In fact my only gripe right now is that I hate the taste of the protein shakes. -So much so, that I have had a tough time actually swallowing them. My next appointment is on Wednesday and I am told that I should be able to start to incorporate some soft foods like cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, and hummus.... Honestly, I never thought that I would be so excited about trying hummus… Continue

Rita The Final Curtain

So, tomorrow is my court date. Evidently, I have to show up, take the stand and state that yes, I want a divorce. I guess I have to confirm that I agree with all of the other stuff in all the stacks of papers that have been prepared for the court's consideration. According to the lawyer, all of this will take just a scant few minutes, then I will be dismissed, signed decree in hand. And then it will be over. All of it. Which is kind of stunning, really. It's hard to believe that it can all b… Continue

Rita Coming Clean

So, ok . . . enough of the smoke and mirrors. Enough of the avoidance. This blog has always been a place where I could come and lay it all down, and I have never failed to receive support and encouragement. It's interesting that I abandoned it when I needed my friends the most. That's me . . . It's really difficult for me to say that I am getting divorced. I flinch every time I tell someone. It's hard to see the look of shock on their faces, and its harder to endure the questions. But, that's… Continue

Rita The Victory Garden

I righted a longstanding wrong today. See, there was this eyesore that I tried my best to ignore for years. It was a patch of ground next to my basement patio that spanned the distance between the poured concrete and a retaining wall. It wasn't really wide enough to be considered "the yard" and it wasn't narrow enough to be considered a border. It's been a challenge to try to come up with a plan for this area since we moved into this house. I had visions of putting sod over it, or maybe turnin… Continue

Rita Centennial Post (aka What I Can't Live Without)

To commemorate my centennial achievement (100 lbs lost/6 months out - I am right on the cusp), I will list the things that I have relied upon the most during this journey. Consider this my teary, dramatic Oscars "thank you" speech, except that I'm not wearing a designer dress. In no particular order, here are The Things I Couldn't Live Without: Continue

Brandie Reynolds Pre-Op Visit

Yesterday was the pre-op visit. My husband was able to take off work and come with me.....whew.....I was so nervous. I know I need this surgery, I'm tired of all the health problems that go with being over weight. Still there is a small part of my brain that keeps asking over and over if I am strong enough. I have had so many friends tell me that they don't support my descision, so I know if I whine I won't get a bit of sympathy. But my family and my two BEST friends support me all the way. (not… Continue

Eileen Finally!

Well, finally I received a call from my surgeon who apologized for the mix-up with the earlier date, and gave me my new date of May 19th. I have a wedding to be in less than 3 weeks later!!! I don't think the matron of honor can back out of her best friends wedding so.... I'm gonna have to tough it out. If anyone out there who has had laproscopic RNY has any thoughts or insights as to how I might expect to be feeling less than 3 weeks out, please write and let me know! Thankfully my best friend… Continue

Eileen A big "woooops"

Well, I was supposed to be having my surgery on April 27th....I went to my scheduled pre-op appointment on April 14th and was informed by my surgeon that the nurse who scheduled my appointment fogot to schedule another surgeon with him -as is standard for them. So, all of that planning for my aftercare around those dates... people taking time off of work, flights out here....Was all for NOTHING! I was SO mad. But I had to shrug it off because theres nothing else to do...and of course I do not wa… Continue

~*Judi~* Im so disappointed =(

Hello everyone ... Its been awhile since I've posted any news ..... Maybe that stems from disappointment... Its been 18 weeks since my surgery and I've only lost 73 pounds ... I've read tons of things about 'average' weight loss with gastric bypass .. but was able to find anything on 'average weekly' loss ... I suppose I only have myself to blame .. I dont eat the things Im suppose to ... it seems up until a few weeks ago .. I was not able to tolerate meat at all... so I was eating tons of carb… Continue
