Thanks Louise! I wish I had the money for the bypass as I would have just gone for that in the first place. Unfortunately I am bound to the NHS option. My dietitian is a wonderful Lady and I see her on the 29th. I just feel like I'm in the dark about a lot of it and I'm not sure what's expected of me. I think I'll write it all down as a set of questions for her. Her assistant was nice but is one of those people that tells you what you already know. As you know, we don't need telling what we need to do but the help and tools with which to do it!

I'm glad I found this place. I was looking for what I should be eating in the next 9 months. How many cals a day I should have etc. This came up and here I am!

Thank you for friending me :)

Hi Louise!

I hope you're feeling well and that all is good after your surgery and Christmas wasn't too much of a problem for you.

I'm in the UK too and am seeing a dietitian with a view to a gastric band in 9-12 months. It would be lovely to have some friends going through similar as I feel pretty lost and alone in the whole thing right now.

I'd love to be friends but if not I wish you well!

Kind Regards

Vicki~

How are you, Louise? I haven't been on the site for awhile, and now that it's the New Year I thought I'd check in.
I'm down about 45 lbs. right now, and am doing well overall. Still haven't bought any new clothes--15 lbs more to lose before I start shopping. My duds are just super baggy right now!
Hope to be in more frequent touch, girl. Hope you're super!

It was scary! I'm about 90% now. I've come a very long way, though. Down by 99 pounds! I can't wait for that magic 100! The main trouble I'm having still is finding things I can eat. I've developed a very sensitive stomach. But that has contributed to the weight loss. But I do miss food from a social angle - you know - get togethers and family gatherings, holidays and the like...
Louise, even though I had a hard time, I know I did the right thing. I was going to die from my obesity if I didn't make some big changes. My blood pressure was out of control - I was one flight of stairs away from a heart attack or who knows what! I was a total mess phisically and emotionally. I'm working hard to be a better, healthier person and a better, healthier spouse, mother and grandmother...but I had to save my own life! These people in my life need me! I want and need to be with them! Even with all the complications, I know I did the right thing!
Good luck to you...and even on a bad, down day...just remember - it will get better! I promise!

Five weeks post op tomorrow!

I know this blog entry is well overdue, I wanted to try and keep it weekly for the first few weeks.

Hang on a second, the three year old wants to type his name!!

joshua

There now he's done that he's disappeared :-)

Ok well how's it been....

Purees continued to be a nightmare with my diet still largely being liquids ie soups and drinks as I just couldn't get inspiration on what to puree that would actually be nice. Mash which was listed for me to eat made me feel so nauseous that I gave up t… Continue

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick blog to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my friends across the Pond! :-) I hope you have a fantastic day :-)

I know I owe a proper blog entry and will do one at the weekend. It'll be a four-week one when I'll have just started 'soft' foods!

Much love to you all.

2 Weeks plus 2 days Post Op

Well here we are, 25 pounds down! :-)

I'm not eating purees and to be honest it's pretty hard going. I was really looking forward to getting to this stage but as the day approached I started to get a bit nervous of actually 'eating'. Having not touched anything solid in four weeks, putting food in my mouth felt odd!

Wind...blimey, eating food makes me burp so much. I suffer with trapped wind that grips me with pain for a few seconds as it travels round. Really unpleasant and am hoping this is… Continue

One week - post op

Well here we are seven days later! :-)

I got on the scales today. I purposely waited until today as I wanted some of the swelling to have gone down before I weighed otherwise with all that gas and fluid my weight loss might not have been true.

Anyway I'm pleased to say I've lost 10 pounds this week. I lost 9 pounds on the milk diet pre-op so that's 19 pounds altogether. Just another 81 to go until I reach my ideal target, that doesn't seem so far away and unachieveable.

So how's it been?

Day 4 - Post op

Had a bad day today.

Felt on top of the world this morning but come 2 pm this afternoon I felt really light headed and ill. Went to bed as my face was hot but I just couldn't get warm.

Have examined my wounds and the brusing has become worse!!!! What's all that about?? Have I been doing too much perhaps? Should I be resting more? I thought they wanted us up and about!!

I'm worried now, what does this bleed mean? Am I ok?

Anyone know anything about this? Going to bed soon.
